HISTORY OF OUR ESTEEMED INSTITUTION

To fulfill the dream of His excellency the most Rev. Louis Mathias D.D, sdb., The Arch Bishop of Madras - Mylapore Archdiocese, the then salesian provincial Rev Fr. John Med, sdb., took great efforts to start a DON BOSCO institution in North Chennai. This dream came true under the able leadership of Rev. Fr. S. Thomas, sdb., who along with the guidance and assistance of Rev. Fr.V.C. Jacob, sdb., in the year 1963started the DON BOSCO SCHOOL at Perambur, under a thatched roof.

The new school building was inaugurated in the year 1967 by the then Honorable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu C.N ANNADURAI. In 1969 the Parent teacher Association was started, In the year 1972 Past pupil association was formed, In 1977 the school was upgraded as a higher secondary school.

Over the course of time some more buildings were put up to house the Salesians and boarding boys.

In the year 1988 the school celebrated its silver jubilee. More buildings came up in 1993 & 2003. In 1999 the second ground was taken on lease, which is an added jewel to the crown of DB Perambur.

Due to the selfless service of the salesians, hardworking faculty, and administrative staff and by the constant co-operation of parents, past pupils, and benefactors, the school celebrated its golden jubilee in the year 2014 and has now reached its pinnacle, standing tall as a pioneer in the field of education.

Following the pedagogy of DON BOSCO’s Reason and Loving kindness the school has enlightened the lives of thousands of students in North Chennai. By the Grace and Providence of God and with the blessings of Mary Help of Christians, the school continuously strives with its motto “Let your Light Shine” making the lives of students grow and glow.
